Overview
Loadout discipline early is what keeps you playing rather than spectating. The starting options are designed to let you play for free while you learn the loop.
The free option
The Bushmaster M17S costs nothing. The T-21 sits at around $600 as a slightly better budget alternative. Both are sufficient for learning the zone.
Build the kit, not the gun
A dependable primary, enough ammunition to finish a push, protection appropriate to the weight you can carry, and one utility item that helps the squad. That is a complete loadout; a better rifle with no utility is not.
Weight affects mobility
Armour classes trade protection for movement. On a map where getting to the zone is half the job, mobility is not a minor consideration.
Rebuy, do not upgrade
When you die, rebuying your last working loadout is almost always better value than treating each death as a reason to spend more.
