Small Oil Rig clear

Overview

Small Oil Rig is not a puzzle so much as a siege with a timer on it. The locked crate takes about fifteen minutes to hack and a Chinook drops Heavy Scientists on you while it runs. Everyone on the server hears the hack start.

Take the dock

Boat in to the dock at the bottom level and clear the scientist there. Landing a helicopter on the pad puts you in the middle of the garrison instead of below it.

Climb the outside stairs level by level

Work up the external stairs, clearing two to five scientists per floor. Loot the barrels and crates as you pass — do not leave a floor uncleared behind you.

Swipe green

The green door is on the lower deck. Every card reader on the rig is always powered — you only need the cards. A green card also spawns on the rig.

Power the fuse room

The fuse box opens a separate loot room: insert the fuse and press the button for a group of military crates.

Swipe blue on the upper deck

Up on the top deck, swipe blue for military and elite crates.

Swipe red for the crate room

The red door is a few metres along the same deck and leads to the locked crate.

Start the hack and hold the stairs

Begin the locked crate hack — roughly fifteen minutes. A Chinook arrives and drops Heavy Scientists. Fight them from the stair and crane chokepoints, not in the open on the pad.

• The hack is audible and visible server-wide. Assume players are already on the water.

Leave by the water

You can jump from the rig into the sea without taking fall damage. That is usually a better exit than walking back down past whoever has since climbed up. There is no recycler on the rig, so recycle ashore.
