Electricity in your base

Solar, wind, batteries and branches — and what the 2026 grid changes did not change.

Last checked 2026-09-21

Overview

Base electricity works the same way it always has. The Power Trip update changed monuments, not your wiring, and it is worth being clear about that because a lot of 2026 content blurs the two.

The fundamentals

Power is measured in rW. Generation comes from solar panels, wind turbines, or a fuel generator; batteries store it and smooth the gaps; splitters divide it evenly and branches take a fixed amount off the top and pass the rest on.

Size for the night

Solar output collapses at night and in bad weather. Size your battery bank for the longest dark period, not for peak generation.

Things that need power

Turrets, lights, doors, sam sites, and computer stations — the last of which draws around 5 rW since May 2026. Build the generation before you build the thing that needs it.

What Power Trip did not touch

Nothing about base wiring changed in August 2026. If a guide tells you Heavy Fuses affect your home base, it is confusing the monument grid with your circuit.
