Overview
A chicken’s happiness is the average of four needs: food, water, love and sunlight. Above 75% health it tries to lay every four to five minutes, and happiness decides whether the attempt works.
Place the coop in the open
Sunlight climbs fast in the sun and drains in the shade, so a coop under a roof slowly makes its chickens unhappy.
Hatch your chickens
Put an egg in the hatching slot; it hatches in two minutes. A coop holds four chickens.
Keep food and water stocked
Chickens feed themselves from the food slot and drink from the water slot. Food runs down 5 per hour and each feed restores 40; water runs down 8 per hour and each drink restores 10.
Pet them
Love drops 3 per hour. Each pet adds 15, so a quick visit keeps it topped up.
Aim for over 75% happiness
Below 75% happiness a chicken never lays; at 100% every attempt succeeds. Below 50% it starts losing health.
