Planting and defusing
Learn the controls and when a defuse kit makes the difference.

Overview
Start with the drills below, then try the controls in an offline or private session. The diagrams explain standard rules; they are not a running match or a gameplay test.
Take the bomb to a site
On T, the player carrying C4 can plant inside a marked bombsite. Hold Use (E by default), or equip C4 and hold primary fire. Remain still until planting finishes. Your custom bindings may differ.
Defend the planted bomb
Call the plant location, move to cover and coordinate who watches each approach. You do not need to stand on the bomb to defend it.
Hold the defuse
On CT, get close to the planted bomb, face it and hold Use until the defuse finishes. Releasing cancels the attempt; it does not store partial progress.
Account for the kit
Under standard settings, a kit reduces a defuse from 10 seconds to 5. Coordinate cover and let a kit holder defuse when practical. Custom servers can use different rules.
